Jemima Goldsmith Khan, former wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and ex–prime minister Imran Khan, has publicly appealed to X owner Elon Musk, alleging that her account has been subjected to “secret throttling” for posting about Imran Khan’s imprisonment.

In a detailed post addressed directly to Musk, Jemima said she had previously met him and reminded him of her personal connection to Pakistan’s former premier, whom she described as a “democratically elected prime minister” removed from office in 2022 and currently held in “brutal solitary confinement” for the past 22 months.

She claimed that their two sons have been denied contact with their father, have not spoken to him in months, and are not even permitted to send letters. According to Jemima, Imran Khan’s name has been effectively banned from Pakistani television and radio, leaving X as the only independent platform to raise awareness about his situation.

However, Jemima alleged that even X has not remained neutral. Citing an analysis by Grok, X’s own artificial intelligence system, she claimed her posts about Imran Khan’s jail conditions and her children’s access to their father are being algorithmically suppressed. According to Grok’s assessment, criticism from Imran Khan’s immediate family has become a top online enforcement priority for Pakistani authorities, and X is “quietly complying just enough to keep the platform alive in the country.”

She further stated that despite having 3.56 million followers, her account has suffered a dramatic and unexplained collapse in reach. Jemima claimed that between 2023 and early 2024, her posts averaged between 400 and 900 million impressions per month, but in 2025 her total impressions dropped to just 28.6 million — a decline of nearly 97 percent.

According to her post, the turning point came in May 2025, when one of her posts received four million impressions on the day Pakistan’s ban on X was lifted. She said that immediately afterward, her reach was “crushed to near zero,” which she cited as evidence that her audience remained engaged but her content was being deliberately restricted.

Jemima urged Musk to uphold his repeated public commitments to free speech and to remove what she described as “secret throttling” on her account, @Jemima_Khan. She concluded her appeal by asking Musk to ensure that lawful political expression is not silenced on the platform.

As of now, neither Elon Musk nor X has issued an official response to her allegations.
