The volume of people in our society persistently complain about police behavior in their sensitive criminal matters. The public of this state has been harassed and oppressed by this cruel behavior. Numerous citizens didn’t register crimes due to their Stone Age system.
Under the Police Order 2002, Section 155 empowers citizens to complain following misconduct by police in their legal matters. Related to this article, penalty scenarios are as follows.
(a) Police officers make false statements or documents to obtain release from their duty.
(b) is guilty of cowardice,
(c) PO is bound to observe but wilful breach or neglect of any provision of law, rule, regulation, or order.
(d) Any violation of duty;
(e) During duty state of intoxication;
(2) Prosecution under this Article shall require a report in writing by an officer authorised on this behalf under the rules.
After the survey, the result showed that still today, not a single action has been taken against 320 police officers whose complaints were registered under police order 2002 section 155(c). The wording of one of the most senior police officers that action against them failed because, in most cases, the police are the plaintiffs. The law was made due to corruption in police departments and third-class investigations, even in rape and murder cases.
Police mostly abuse their power to destroy the mental peace of the public after starting legal prosecution against criminals. Citizens even don’t like to enter their foot in the police stations because the custom of police station is “Chai Panee do ga tabee Kam Ho Ga.”
Continuously, a huge amount of reported judgments were given by the Honourable Courts on police behavior disputes, like police who have no right to cancel registering FIRs, etc., but still, most citizens registered FIRs through Justice of Peace. After this very difficult situation, the remaining ratio of the population of this state is also completely depressed by the police department.
The awareness is really important because it will wake up people and stop this brutality forever. There are remedies available against Unlawful detentions, Physical or verbal abuse, Extortion, False accusations, Invasion of privacy, etc, by police.
First, when in your case, Investigation officers (IO) ignore or cross lines of ethics, inform his senior, I mean SHO. If he also fails to perform their duties, the harassment can be complained to the CCPO or DPO. After that, in case they both ignore or show negligence in your matter, then either inform IG by a face-to-face meeting with him or call 1787 to register your complaint. After all this may directly give a complaint application against the Police officers to authorise the Magistrate under section 200 of Cr.P.C and file a Private Complaint with the proof which shows his negligence.
